The State of Minnesota’s Stay at Home orders have expired. The new motto of the summer is “Be Smart About Staying Safe”. The North Shore is open to visitors, but you should be aware of several changes that you will notice with your stay.
The entire globe has been challenged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s get that right out there. And it’s no different here in northern Minnesota. With being said, let us describe how Cascade Vacation Rentals has been using the last two months preparing for your stay as we plan to welcome you back to the North Shore when this executive order expires
New Cancelation Policy
TEMPORARY TERM CHANGES DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC (VALID 3/31/2020 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)
We are pleased to announce that until we return to our standard policy you may now book properties with only a 13% non-refundable booking fee at risk. In addition, the remainder of your rental package will now be due in full only 7 days prior to the start date of your reservation (as opposed to 30) at which point your reservation is non-refundable. Once the State and Local authorities give direction to resume business as normal we will resume our standard policy and contact you for the appropriate deposit and or rent in full depending on how far it is from the start date of your reservation.
New Linen Policy
As a best practice, and in the best interest of you, your loved ones, our staff, and our wonderful smaller community, we are asking you to bring your own, linens, towels, and bedding during your next trip. Allow us to explain, as this is something we believe is the right thing to do and we think you will too.
We have invested a significant amount of time and capital since we closed in mid-March researching and purchasing the most up-to-date protective bed mattress covers available. When you arrive, you will find a clean, completely sanitized modern protective mattress and pillow covers waiting for your linens. All you have to do is put on your linens and you’re all set. You will also find these protective covers providing added comfort as well.
This policy will continue through October. Sometime in October we will re-evaluate the situation and determine whether to continue with the new linen policy or return to our past policy. If you have a reservation from November on, stay tuned! We will update you as things happen.
What To Pack
To keep things simple, if it’s just two of you, no need to bring more than one set of linens. If your party is larger, by all means, bring what you need for your comfort including extra blankets as throw pillow and sofa blankets will also be removed. Sometimes that little extra touch from home can add to the spirit of your vacation. The number of beds and the size of each bed for each property will be described with each reservation. A fun idea for kids is to consider bringing sleeping bags. Easy!
For bathroom towels, bring all sizes you feel you need, including beach towels. Consider bringing kitchen towels as well. Paper towels and disposable handi-wipes will be provided as an alternative to kitchen towels. Potholders and toilet paper will be provided as usual. Potholders will be replaced between each stay.
Cleaning Products Update
With the guidance provided by CDC and our own Minnesota Department of Health, we have sourced the highest grade cleaning products available for disinfecting and sanitizing everything from countertops, remotes, flooring, light switches, and more combined with developing and implementing best practices for our housekeeping staff and overall cleaning protocol. We have also removed decorative area rugs and throw blankets from home as these are more difficult to clean between stays. All other amenities will remain.
Minimum Nights Policy
It has always been the CVR policy to set minimum nights to three nights during the summer months. This year, we will be having to stick with a three-night minimum throughout the summer. This helps reduce the number of weekly guests and gives our cleaners more time to clean each property. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to return to allowing two night stays at smaller properties this fall. Also, in between new reservations, we are working towards placing 24-hour “resting” periods. This allows a longer time between guests giving housekeepers more time to clean and sanitize properties. Please understand we may not be able to accommodate this for every reservation due to online bookings and previously booked reservations. We trust our new linen policy will provide you the comfort, safety, and best practice you expect.
Stay at Home end May 18th. However, that does not mean the return of “business as usual”. As Governor Walz said in his May 13th update: “Be Smart About Being Safe”. That is the motto for the summer of 2020.
Some businesses in the area will be operating under new policies and guidelines. Restaurants may not offer dine-in options. Stores may not offer in-store shopping. Before you come up, look into where you want to go and what you want to do and see what’s going to be different. We have some great websites on the North Shore that are working hard to keep this information up to date and help visitors prepare for what to expect when they come up. Check out Visit Cook County and Exploring the North Shore. All three have been working hard to keep up to date information readily available to guests. Things often change daily up here right now, thank you for your understanding that some information may be outdated. Please plan to call ahead or visit the websites and Facebook pages of your favorite North Shore businesses to confirm your travel plans.
All other amenities, including bathroom and kitchen amenity bags, and everything you’ve come to know and love about a CVR stay will remain the same.
We want you to feel confident the moment you walk into your CVR vacation rental property. By implementing this linen practice combined with the best cleaning practices developed over the last several months, we believe you will feel confident too. And that’s important.
