Christine's Hideaway is a cozy log-sided cabin tucked away halfway up the Gunflint Trail on Poplar Lake. Poplar Lake is 3 miles long and has 3 entries to the BWCA. This is the perfect place for a peaceful retreat. Roomy enough for six but the cozy ambiance would be ideal for two.
At the edge of Minnesota's great wilderness, with direct access to the BWCA, this 3 bedroom,1 bathroom log cabin is newly remodeled on one easy-access level. The quaint cabin blends into the surrounding woods, however, it boasts all the amenities you would expect to find in a house in town, including a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances. A luxurious base camp to return to after a day in the wilderness. Blueberries are bountiful in the summer.
Passing through the town of Grand Marais, MN you will find the entrance to the Gunflint Trail Scenic Byway near the public library, marked by a statue of a voyageur and his canoe and a black bear. Take this remote wilderness road up to Poplar Creek, roughly 35 miles away. Along the way you are certain to spot many wildlife creatures. These can include deer, bear, fox, wolf, and even moose! In the springtime, many of Christine's Hideaway visitors have reported seeing mother moose with their calves, a sight that is becoming more and more rare all over the world. Once at Christine's Hideaway you are in your own peaceful spot on Earth, with plenty of wilderness activities to keep you busy for your stay. Enjoy hiking, canoeing, and exploring this beautiful area. Take a day trip into the BWCA or hop over to the Trail Center Lodge for a bite to eat. Head down the trail into the quiet, peaceful town of Grand Marais for a day of shopping and dining at the many restaurants that make this quaint town so unique.
You can also simply enjoy an escape from the hustle and bustle of the real world while enjoying a good book and a cup of coffee on the home's large lake-facing deck while listening to the wind in the trees, the song of the bird, and the occasional howl of a wolf.
Great getaway cabin. Peaceful and beautiful place in the north woods.

Worked well with team. No issues with Cascade Rentals.
House itself belongs in a Home and Garden magazine, gorgeous and well supplied. Very modern and clean. Driveway a little harrowing with its steep incline at one point. Boat dock needs swim ladder and it was a little treacherous itself. A little brush removal would help outside aesthetics. Location was good. Very secluded but minutes from restaurants, outfitters, other lakes. House amenities (minus lack of Wifi) were great. Plenty of board games and books. Directions to cabin were not correct. Key to door was tricky.

Generally, the experience was good. Team members were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making sure everything was going smoothly.
Enjoyed the house in general. This is the second year in a row I stayed at this house. The dock needs to be repaired--as it did last year. I may have pointed this out last year, but noticed it is in even worse condition this year. I think it presents real liability for the owners and would be pretty inexpensive to repair.

This was our second rental from CVR. We haven't had any issues yet. The whole process was very smooth and went as planned.
Good location if you want to be near some conveniences (relatively speaking)--Rockwood, Trail Center, etc. Easy to get to Grand Marais as well.

We've been using Cascade Vacation Rental for 6 years now and just love working with you. Very helpful when I have questions and always enjoy the cabins we stay in.
Amazing cabin! Beautifully appointed kitchen, modern bathroom and easy access to the lake. The view of the lake from the porch is lovely and there was virtually no boat traffic because the cabin sits at the end of the bay.

This cabin was wonderful. The perfect balance between seclusion and having access to convinces. The cabin itself was nicely laid out and had a good view of the lake. Over all, it was a quite place which was great. Being fairly remote, but still having access to a vehicle allowed us to explore the gunflint trail, having lunch at trails end cafe and visiting the museum. Rockwood outfitters was also great to work with to rent a canoe. Nor'wester was also able to provide some luxuries like milk when we ran out and nightcrawers to fish with.
