Cathy's Cove is a recently redecorated, private North Shore Retreat on an idyllic section of Lake Superior Shoreline. The cabin sits on 425 feet of ledge rock shoreline and is directly on the Gitchi Gami Bike Trail. You will love the small seasonal waterfall that drops 30-40 feet into the cove below, which is visible from the cabin's deck.
This cozy little one bedroom, one bathroom, one story cabin sits on 3 acres providing a peaceful, serene getaway on Lake Superior's North Shore. On the western side of the property you will find a staircase leading to the ledge rock "peninsula" down to a private, seasonal waterfall. This is a shoreline that is truly unique to Cathy's Cove.
At Cathy's Cove you are just a short drive away from the beautiful Oberg Mountain Scenic Overlook and hiking trail, a must-see during leaf changing season. Head down the shore and check out Temperance River State Park or head up the shore and you will find Cascade River State Park - both great for hiking and enjoying some beautiful waterfalls. The Gitchi Gami Bike Trail is nearby and runs along Highway 61. The trail is enjoyed by bikers and walkers alike, taking a scenic ride or stroll along Lake Superior's shoreline. The Lutsen Mountains recreation area is just 10-miles away and offers both winter and summer activities, including skiing, the alpine slide, and a scenic gondola up to the Moose Mountain Summit. Enjoy the many restaurants and live music offered year-round on the mountain, as well. Be sure to take a day trip up to Grand Marais to enjoy the quaint town and its many small shops and unique restaurants.
Whether you've come to relax or come to explore and have an adventure, Cathy's Cove is a great home base!

Appreciate the frequent and timely communication.

Gorgeous spot with amazing views of the lake from inside the cabin and out on the deck. Very special to have a path down to the lake where you can nestle into the cave and get a close-up and private connection with the lake.

Cathy's Cove had a beautiful view from the deck! It was wonderful to sit out and read a book and listen to the waves crash. The house had all of the things we needed for our stay - kitchen utensils, pots and pans, dishes, towels, linens, etc. We had a great stay!

The location was beautiful, very picturesque. However, the terrain would be considered difficult. The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable. There are a few issues with the home, like not being able to adjust the heat and a toilet that only flushes about half the time (maybe only 1/3 of the time). But at the same time, when you stay at a cabin, it doesn't need to be 5 stars.

The property is amazing. The beach area with the cove and waterfall were gorgeous and we had a hard time leaving here at the end of our stay. The cabin is older and needs some updating.

Loved everything about the place. The location was beautiful. The best part was the deck and the cove. The privacy was superb. What I liked the least was finding it the first time. There's a branch in the way of the blue number sign. Just minor though. Will definitely be staying again.

We LOVED staying at Cathy's Cove! Such a private location, and your very own cove and shoreline is AWESOME! Even was decent a few days to take a dip in the lake. Also, the location is only a mile from the cafe, and general store!

The cabin was very nice. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was adequate. The deck was perfect to sit and read on looking out on the Lake, listening to the waterfall 100 feet away. The office personal was great in allowing us to drop off our bikes before the 4 pm check in so we could get to some things we needed before going grocery shopping. Just a great experience.

Cathy's Cove is an amazing location!!! Felt like we had our own little retreat away from the world! The home was clean and cozy, especially with the fireplace since we had a snowstorm happening outside(!), the key lock-box was super convenient, and the pottery cups/bowls are so beautiful to use. We'll definitely return - what a treasure!!

The cabin has a beautiful view of the lake and the cove was incredible. The ice formations were an amazing sight along with the sunrises. The crackling wood fireplace made for warm and cozy evenings. Watching and hearing the waves crash into the rock point and shore was also wonderful. An added bonus was watching 4 ships pass by. The cabin included everthing that we needed. We could not have enjoyed our time there more.

Cathy's Cove was perfect. It was secluded, views were magnificent, loved all the white birch trees plus we had our own private waterfall!! The steps going to the shore were about 75, but easy to handle! I only wish they would have made a small sitting area at the bottom.
The bed was comfy, entire cabin was clean and furnished well, some pans were a tad old, but we managed. I would suggest placing a flag of some kind at the entrance so it would be easier to find at night.
Only thing missing was a hammock, but that is getting picky!!

Wow! We loved Cathy's cove. A lot! The cabin is spotless and cozy with ample room to relax. By far the best thing about Cathy's Cove is the location. Holy moly the location! We had no idea it was going to be so great. The cabin is situated at the high edge of a steep precipice overlooking a cove. Along one side of the cove there is a rocky overhang with a beautiful waterfall visible right from the deck. It's been rainy lately. So, I'm not sure if that waterfall is always there. There are trails that lead to the shoreline in two places. We spent an afternoon lounging around on the shore. It was fantastic.

This was our 2nd stay at Cathy's Cove and we can't wait to come back! We loved the new stairs down to the lake, this was a big improvement. The best part is that the property is dog friendly. There are beatiful state parks very close to the property but you don't need to go anywhere the view from the deck is great too.

Beautiful location - overlooking Lake Superior. Watched the ice chunks bumping with the wind, then break up and out of the cove. Really amazing to watch the lake change with the weather. We could hardly keep our eyes off the lake. We were at Cathy's Cove three days. Deer were bedding down right next to the cabin, along with a family of grouse - and eagles made a frequent appearance. And a very comfortable bed!

It was a charming cabin. We were pleasantly surprised at how cozy it can be, even on a chilly evening. The weather was lovely and we grilled out a few nights and spent the afternoons out on the deck that runs all across the lake side of the cabin.
We would recommend a bath mat for the tub as it was a bit slippery.
