Spirit of Superior is more than “just” a cabin; it is an immersive experience.  Nestled on the rugged shores of Lake Superior in Schroeder, this unique retreat transports you back in time, reminding you to slow down and savor the magic, or “Spirit” of the Great Lake.

Originally built in 1941, has since been lovingly restored, blending timeless vintage charm with thoughtfully curated modern conveniences. Beautifully decorated with antiques, this cabin exudes warmth and romance, making it a popular destination for many unforgettable marriage proposals.

Imagine yourself relaxing with a good book by the crackling fire in front of the historic stone fireplace, or enjoying a morning coffee on one of the Adirondack chairs outside. The tranquil surroundings offer the soothing melodies of birds, loons or an occasional Whippoorwill, while the vast stillness of Lake Superior is occasionally graced by majestic eagles or local falcons.

Outside, two separate decks provide ample space for family gatherings and barbecues. Just steps away from the main cabin, is a garage loft included in your stay. This private space features a cozy wood-burning stove, a butler’s kitchen, a queen-size bed, a full-size sleeper sofa, and a comfortable seating/game playing area. Oversized French doors open onto a private balcony, taking in the calming sound of crashing waves while providing yet another spectacular panoramic view.

The 200-foot shoreline consists of ancient volcanic ledge rock that gently slope to the pristine waters of Lake Superior offering a rare sense of privacy and connection to nature. A natural rock formation offers the ideal setting for lakeside bonfires, s’more roasting, and creating new memories.

Located in Schroeder, this property is just a stone's throw away from Sugar Cove Point. A few more miles down the road, at the wayside rest, is an amazing waterfall hike. The opposite direction brings you to the Schroeder Baking Co. for the best scones in town. Lutsen, Temperance River, Grand Marais, and much more, are other nearby places to visit.
