Sawtooth Mountain Range

The Sawtooth Mountains are a range of small mountains on Lake Superiors North shore. It stretches about 30 miles From Carolton Peak on the west to Grand Marais on the east. Last week, we were overjoyed that Grandma's Marathon returned to Duluth after being canceled in 2020. Seeing the runners was a welcoming sight to see! 2021 Lutsen 99er Update

Like most things in 2020, we saw the cancelation of the 2020 Lutsen 99er due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lutsen 99er team has been closely watching for updates from Governor Tim Walz, the CDC, and other entities to see if it will be possible to hold the North Shore's most popular bike race. Caribou Lake

  Caribou Lake is a beautiful lake with picturesque views located north of Lutsen MN, on the Caribou Trail. There are two other lakes by the same name in the county. Lutsen 99er

Every year, on the last Saturday of June, Lutsen plays host to a series of mountain bike races that take riders through the vast wilderness of Northern Minnesota.  Cutting through dirt, mud, weeds, and maneuvering around rocks, racers start with a 1,000 foot climb up Caribou Trail and then part ways through a challenging course along miles of bike trails, snowmobile trails, Forest Service roads, and single track.  This race series is known as the Lutsen 99er.
